Three Nations: Canada, the United States, and Mexico Have Come Together to Promote Occupational Health and Safety

Canada, the United States, and Mexico have joined together this week to bring awareness to occupational health and wellness. The goal of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH Week) is to bring awareness to employers and their employees, partners, and the public on the importance of safety and preventing injury in the workplace. For the rest of this week, strive to improve attitudes towards safety by:

  • Assisting in team building to improve communication and increase cooperation between team members;
  • Encouraging new safety and health activities to help team members improve their health and prevent injuries in the workplace;
  • Increasing awareness and commitment to occupational safety and wellness by promoting NAOSH Week.

Simply talking to your employees about safety won’t be enough to keep your employees safe. As the employer, you are required to try and prevent injuries on the job. Review safety practices with your staff and take note of any safety weaknesses. These weaknesses could require you to retrain your staff or add additional safety precautions to keep your employees safe. Make sure to take the time to review and reinforce these practices as well. It’s best to keep the importance of safety fresh in your staffs’ minds.

Learn more about NAOSH Week here. Sometimes, accidents do happen in the workplace. In some cases, severe injuries can lead to lawsuits filed against the employer.
